You can build parts of the generator itself using the same Generator Tab as the buildings that process resources. Assign workers to the building, declare how many profiles you want. This works fairly similarly to using a Factory to make Prosthetics in A New Home. You need to use TLA-specific buildings like the Profiles Manufacturer to turn basic resources, like wood, into processed resources, like Structural Profiles. The generator doesn't use conventional wood or steel to build.

Generator-Related buildings are under the "Generator" tab in your build menu. That big area in the middle of your city only allows generator-related buildings (and resource stockpiles). Once you have the basic economy of your city setup- Docks, food sources and so on- you should start getting ready to make the Generator. Discontent is also somewhat more important in TLA as high Discontent leads to more frequent strikes. Motivation is more important than Hope- workers with very high Motivation perform tasks faster, workers with very low Motivation perform them slower. Some very general notes- Temperature is mostly not a problem in The Last Autumn, which is good because you don't have a generator in the scenario. I would still generally suggest you build at least one Fishing Harbor- they are more consistent than Foragers. Fishing Harbors compete for the same four spaces as your Docks. You could also choose to build a Fishing Harbor, which is a more conventional source of food, like a Hothouse (although they don't need Steam Cores). If you find an area with a food source (hint, they all have a little picture when you click on the location), the foragers can be told to stay there for a few days and will send food back to the city each day. Forager's Quarters allows you to send out foragers to find areas where they can send food back to the city. You have two main sources of food possible in The Last Autumn. The telegraph station accumulates "logistics" over time, and you can spend logistics to receive a bundle of workers/engineers/steam cores. You want to build it as soon as possible. This will allow you to receive new Workers or Engineers as well as Steam Cores. Once you have built a Docks, you can build a Telegraph Station. Note that upgrading a Docks will produce more resource piles, a Steam Docks produces 2, and an Advanced Docks makes 3 piles. There are three basic ways to do this- assign workers to the resource pile, build a gathering post near the resource pile (faster than gathering from pile), or build a re-loading station over the resource pile (uses steam cores, faster than gathering post). You have four spaces to build Docks.ĭocks produce resource piles that you need to gather. They can also produce wood, although it's possible to use Sawmills instead. Docks are your main resource for Steel and Coal in The Last Autumn. You will need to start building Docks before long. Gather your resource piles, and get basic infrastructure like a medical post, workshop, and cookhouse set up. The extremely early start of TLA is fairly similar to starting A New Home.
